Complaint of Sedition preferred against Rahul, Yechury, Kejriwal: Hyderabad Police registered case

Hyderabad: Yesterday, on 28th day of February, 2016, a Sedition case was lodged against Rahul Gandhi- Congress Vice- President, Arvind Kejriwal- Chief Minister of Delhi, Sitaram Yechury- CPI(M) general Secretary and other six people in the Hyderabad.

The case of Sedition was sought against such leaders for their alleged anti- national speeches. And it was brought in the wake of Jawaharlal Nehru University’s matter which is burning in the recent days.

This case of Sedition is filed with the First Information Report- FIR which was registered at Saroornagar Police State, under Cyberabad Police Commissionerate. It was filed on the direction of the metropolitan magistrate, who was urged to charge nine people by a group of lawyers, which also including Anand Sharma- Congress Leader, Ajaya Maken- Congress Leader, D Raja- CPI leader, K. C. Tyagi- Spokesperson to JD(U) and Umar Khalid- JNU research scholar and JNUSU President- Kanhaiya Kumar.

As per the comments of S. Lingaiah- Inspector to the Saroornagar Police Station, the matter is referred by the Court and following to the directives of the court, the case under section 124-A of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 i.e. of Sedition has been registered on Saturday, i.e. on 27th day of February, against afore named nine persons.

The complaint was sought by the Complainant- Janardhan Goud and two other lawyers, who moved to the court when the Police official refused to register the case of Sedition. Thereafter, as per the order passed by the Court, the FIR is registered. Thus, the matter is posted by the Court for hearing on 4th day of March, 2016. As per complaint, the allegations including that during the protest organized at Jawaharlal Nehru University, the anti- India slogans were raised on 9th day of February against the hanging of the Parliament attack convict- Afzal Guru.

In the allegations against the Congress leader- Rahul Gandhi and other leaders, it is sought to maintained that they had visited the University (spot) for supporting the students involved in the protest against nation. Moreover, as per the petition, Mr. Goud claimed that he has every right to question those who are involving in the ‘anti- national activities.
