New Delhi: The Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services), Bill, 2016 is passed from the Lok Sabha as ‘Money Bill’ today, i.e. on Friday, 11th March. The opposition still appeared protesting its introduction as ‘money bill’. It was commented by the National Democratic Alliance- NDA that in future payouts of the subsidies will be mandatorily linked to Aadhar.
Now, the Bill as it is passed from the Lok Sabha, would not be rejected in the Rajya Sabha and it is on the path to become an effective law. It is notable that the Bill now be tabled to Rajya Sabha, which can only make recommendations and can only return the Bill to the Lok Sabha within 14 days from the receipt date of such Bill.

Now, will this Bill, the most important Aadhaar will be given a statutory backing. And as such this bill was considered most important. It was also stated in its favour that as there are many Social Security Schemes of the Government and many of them have also started use of Aadhar for identification of the individual. Thus, with the passing of this law, the Aadhar will be provided a statutory status and the mandate of its use will surely help the Government and also the Individual to avail the various schemes’ benefits, etc., as told in the scheme of the Bill.
It is true to say that the Bill is having many provisions that tries to address concerns regarding privacy and protection of the information. However, as per the view of the Opposition, this provisions are insufficient and inadequate.
Moreover, some of the members from across the Political spectrum requires the Government that some of the definitions and provisions need to be redrafted for ensuring the information and biometric data of Indians will not be misused or leaked.
Moreover, some of the Members, particularly, Congress leader- Rajeev Shankarrao Satav sought that the Bill be referred to the Standing Committee for addressing some of the vaguely drafted provisions.
