The AC College was established in 1885 and is one of the oldest colleges in State of Andhra Pradesh and is said to be one among the first colleges in India that provides for graduation. The college is affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University located at Guntur. The Acharya Nagarjuna University aspires to enhance knowledge in various fields of learning and to eradiate unawareness of people. The University contains many departments like Commerce, Arts, Science, Education, Humanities including Law. The University for all time encourages its students to obtain knowledge through different methods. Higher education and research are always promoted by the University. The University provides excellent faculties and gives the students to learn through experience. New and modern techniques of learning are used by the university to get good results. The Department of Law is attached to the University in addition to its affiliated colleges.
The AC College of Law has also obtained the accredition of NAAC. It is the second branch of AC College got its affiliation in 1974. Hence, the Department of Law was constituted as a separate branch known as Andhra Christian College of Law. The other branches of AC College are day college and evening college. The College has also obtained recognition from the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education and also the Bar Council of India. The college is placed in an extensive area with the main block as well as Y.V Rao block. The college consists of library hall, lecture halls etc and sports are also organized.
The college offers LLB 3 year and LLB 5year courses and the eligibility of which is intermediate and graduation respectively. The total seats available for both the courses are eighty each. Moreover, the college also conducts Post Graduate Diploma in Corporate, Industrial Law and Governance for which the qualification is graduation. Diploma in Insurance law offered by the College can only be pursued by a degree holder. The college through its long experience has managed to be the top institution in the State. To get through this college will be advantageous for the law aspirants. The students also get the occasion to have interactive sessions with senior advocates in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
