Bihar Institute of Law was established in 1984 by Law Society of Bihar and affiliated to Bar Council of India, New Delhi. Law Society of Bihar has been registered under Societies Registration Act 1860 with its members from Patna High Court Bar. The college has its own building at Raja Bazar with many big class rooms, Teachers Room, Principal Chamber, Director Chamber, Staff Room, Office etc. Bihar Institute of Law was established to impart quality legal education for students of Bihar. It is affiliated to Magadh University and approved by Bar Council of India, New Delhi and under its rules and regulations this college offers 3 year LL.B and 5 year law course.
College’s governing body consist of President Sri Nitin Navin and Secretary Sri Keshave Srivastava who is a senior advocate of Patna High Court. For getting admission in this college students must write entrance test that is conducted by college as BILAT. Library of this college is run under Library Committee where a qualified librarian looks after and maintains the library. The Moot Court, law seminars, Mock Parliament, legal debates are held regularly in the college premises and they are part of the academics to the students. College is closely linked to Hon’ble High Court and Legal Aid Authority and conducts free legal aid camps with the help of the students for the needy people. College is considering to start a placement cell for the students who study in this college and to guide them in their choice of career in law.
This college offers 3 years and 5 years LL.B course and it follows the semester system that is available to the students in the college and it is a day college. A student or a candidate to be eligible for this college he/she must have passed bachelor degree with 45% marks in aggregate for a 3 year LL.B course. Marks sheet of the last qualifying examination must be attested along with a passport size photo. The students should show the proof of passed exams. College has a well learned teaching staff and they are employed to impart the legal knowledge to the students at this college in various departments.
