Dhubri Law College, Assam

Dhubri Law College was established in 1967 and Dinesh Ranjan Sarkar was the founder father of this college.  He was also principal cum secretary.  This college is permanently affiliated to Gauhati University, Assam, and it is approved by The Bar Council of India, New Delhi.  Government of Assam has recognised this college and it has applied for accreditation with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).  Dinesh Ranjan Sarkar was a Passport Officer, Election Officer, Advocate, and Principal-cum-secretary of Dhubri Law College.

The present principal of the college is Sri Rituraj Rajkhowa.  This college was established for the greater interest of people of western and lower Assam region in Goalpara District for imparting legal education.  When it started it consisted of 24 members sponsoring committee, and Lt. Dinesh Ranjan Sarkar founder of it served in college till 1991.  After him Mr Robindra Nath Chowdhury was appointed as Principal and Secretary and he too served till 2013.  Lt Shyama Prasad Chakroborty was the first president of the college.

Academic session of this college usually commence from 1 July every year.  This college provides both 3 years LLB course and 5 years B.A. LLB course.  The college has a spacious class rooms, well equipped library for students to refer law books to do case study, it has a computer centre too, Moot Court hall, well experienced teaching staff, and a huge campus surrounded by lush greenery.  College also conducts medical aid camps in the premises.

This is a co-education college where both boys and girls study law.  College also has hostel facility for only boys which is also on first come first serve basis but not to all.  This law college has emerged as one of the best educational institution in the nation.  It is one of the cost-effective law colleges and has developed law students in such a way that they work for public services.  This college is quite well equipped with modern amenities that is provided to the law students.  The course available here is a full time course.  It is one of the oldest law colleges in the state.  Courses offered here are par with the rules and regulations of University.
