Dr. Ambedkar Global Law Institute was established in 1991 under the efforts of Sri R Thippa Reddy. According to his vision, all the persons should have general awareness of law. He said that ignorance of law is not an excuse and therefore the society should have access to learn law and the means to achieve these visions should be available to all without any discrimination or socio-economic condition. His goal formed the shape of Dr. Ambedkar Global Law Institute in Tirupathi. The institute was formed under Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Educational Society. The society was registered under The Societies Registration Act, 1860 under the Andhra Pradesh Government.
The college has proved to be one of the prestigious law schools of the nation. Both the students from India and outside the nation seek admission in this institution. It has a strong repute with its most qualified faculty and dedicated students. The campus is also very extensive and is situated in prime location. The alumni of the college include eminent lawyers, jurists, academicians, lawmakers, judicial officers etc.
The institute offers 3 year LLB with 320 seats and 3 year LLB (Hons) with 180 seats. Other courses include 5 year LLB, 5 year integrated BA LLB (Hons), 5 year integrated BBA LLB and 5 year integrated B Com LLB for which the college provides admission to 120 students each. In addition LLM is also offered in the institute with specialization in Constitution and Legal order and Criminal Law with 20 seats for each class. The college provides coaching classes for Common Law Admission Test and for Junior Civil Judge examination.
To get admission for the above mentioned courses, the candidates will have to pass the LAWCET examination conducted by State of Andhra Pradesh. Admission is also provided in the management quota without qualifying LAWCET. The infrastructure of the college is also outstanding with the moot court hall, seminal hall and central library offering advanced law books, periodicals and journals. The college also conducts moot court and legal aid programmes as part of practical training. Court visit and chamber works are also compulsory for the students. The eminent faculty assists the students in their activities.
