ICSSR Sponsored National Seminar on India: An Emerging Power: Continuity and Change in Foreign Policy on 15th – 16th March, 2016 – Last Date of Submission 1st March, 2016

The Department of History, DAV (P.G) College, Dehradun organizes National Seminar on ‘India: An Emerging Power: Continuity and Change in Foreign Policy’ under the sponsorship of ICSSR on March 15-16, 2016 at Deen Dayal Sabhagar, DAV (PG) College. The main objective of the seminar is to scrutinize the continuity and changes effected to the foreign policy in the international field and also to examine the positive outcomes in our economy. It also aims to provide study materials on the topic in Hindi which is the official language of India for the benefit of teachers and also the students pursuing post graduate studies in international relations and defense studies. This seminar is conducted keeping in mind the importance of foreign policy for the coming generations. The sub themes of the topic consist of:

  1. Analysing Foreign Policy: A Theoretical Framework and Historical Background
  2. India’s Basic National Interest
  3. Defence and Nuclear Policy
  4. India and China
  5. India and Common Wealth
  6. India and Super Powers: Cold War Years and Post-Cold War Years
  7. India and European Community
  8. India and Third World: Latin America, Africa, West Asia, South Asia and Est Asia
  9. India’s Major International Problems with Special Reference to China and Pakistan
  10. Energy Security and Foreign Policy
  11. India and the International and Regional Organizations

The organizers invite papers from academicians, research scholars and students to present papers. The abstract shall not exceed 500 words and shall reach the committee on or before March 1, 2016. The full paper shall not exceed 5000 words and shall be send on or before March 5, 2016. The participants can also display posters on the mentioned topics. The papers after scrutiny will be published in the Conference Proceedings with ISBN number. The published book can be availed by the presenters by paying a reasonable cost.

The participants can reach Dehradun very easily as it is connected with rail, road and air with the major cities in India. The nearby airport is Jolly Grant Airport and the Dehradun railway station is very close to the city. It is connected with Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Kolkatta etc. From Dehradun there are buses to Shimla and Mussorie.
