Late Nalini Nath Phukan Memorial and Educational Trust had founded an institute named Jorhat Law College. It is governed by the dignified governing body where Justice S N Phukan Supreme Court of India Judge (Retd) was the leader in building the college. This college is in the Upper Assam and is second in the whole of North-East India in Assam which was started in 1964. At present Dr. A.K. Das is the principal of the college.
Main objective and mission of the college is to impart the best quality of legal education and to create awareness among the budding lawyers in the community and to achieve excellence in the legal field. Jorhat Law College offers 3 years LL.B course and it is semester system of exams. 5 year B.A. LL.B (Hons) integrated course is also available in this college.
Jorhat College have their own campus which is located at M. G. Road Na-Ali that is in the heart of Jorhat City. This is located in the place which provides the perfect academic ambiance which is also eco-friendly class-rooms, equipped with modern library, they have a big moot court hall, seminar room. It conducts debates and quiz to the students and also have outdoor games too. They have students bar association.
In their library they have a rich collection of text books which includes law and social science and other reference books. Library has an open access system where students have to help in maintaining and organising the different shelves themselves. They have various journals and law magazines in their library like:

- Supreme Court judicial decisions

- Guwahati law journal
- Indian bar review
- The practical lawyer
- Corporate law journal etc.
To be eligible for this college student must have passed bachelor degree with 45% marks in aggregate and below 30 years of age which is for a 3 year LL.B course. For 5 year B.A. LL.B course CAT test must be taken and must be less than 22 years of age. Their medium of education is English.
