Allahabad: The Chief Justice of India- Tirath Singh Thakur, today, on 13th March, said that the Judiciary as an institution is facing crisis of “credibility” which is a challenge from within. Moreover, he asked the Judges to be conscientious of their duties.
It was seen that the Chief Justice of India- T. S. Thakur further stated on the issue of the huge pendency of the cases before the Indian courts, that even if the judges are ready to put extra hours, the bar has “not been very very co- operative” in disposal of cases.
The Statements were preferred by the Chief Justice of India- Thakur in the function to inaugurate 150th anniversary of the High Court of Allahabad. Moreover, he also found assuring lawyers that, if the Bar co-operates, then the Judges will be ready to sit even on Saturdays for finishing the pending matters, particularly, those concerned with the people who languishing in the jail for years period.
Moreover, in relation to glorious history of the Allahabad High Court, the CJI- Thakur found stated that it is a matter of “great pride” for him that, Pandit Motilal Nehru, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Kailash Nath Katju, Tej Bahadur Sapru who have left unforgettable marks in history, belonging to his home State Jammu and Kashmir.
Moreover, he also does not forget to mention that the Allahabad’s Court have seen very difficult times, and difficult challenges which have been seen, however, the judges have risen to the occasion. Also, pointing the future needs, he further said that there are great challenges in the future and judiciary is required to be ready for facing such challenges. And also he said judiciary is always under public watch and it is having challenges from within and also from outside. He further said outside’s challenges are not for disturbing the judiciary, as it can face them well, however, judiciary should be aware of needs to tackle the challenges from within.
Also, CJI- Thakur pointed the need of Bar, and said that administration of the Justice is not possible without the Bar, and he termed it as the mother of the Bench.
