The National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam in its short form- NLUA is one of the underdeveloped legal education imparting institution in India which is situated in the North- Eastern region of India. Moreover, the location of this university is little impressive as in the same we can seen High Court’s presence for the eighth of ‘Seven Sister’ states, including, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura in Guwahati. The University was established for fulfilling the aspirations of the people. It was established actually, under the Government of Assam and it was previously established as a National Law University and Judicial Academy- NLUJAA, Assam by the Government, through an enactment namely, the National Law School and Judicial Academy, Assam Act of 2009. However, for the bringing little changes in the name of the institution, i.e. in place of the world “School” in the earlier name, new word “University” was added by the an amendment which was taken place in the year 2012. Thus, the present university is imparting all legal education to the students in its offered undergraduate and post- graduate programmes. Moreover, admissions in the University, in such courses can be taken by way of CLAT exams. It is also offering modern level honours courses in Law and also a single years LL.M course.
