Osmania University Organizes National Seminar On Information Technology and Law – Issues, Concerns and Challenges on 23th-24th April, 2016 – Last date of Submission 10th April, 2016

The Department of Law, Osmania University, Hyderabad has decided to conduct a National Seminar on Information Technology and Law – Issues, Concerns and Challenges on April 23-24 , 2016 at Conference hall, University college of Law, Osmania University, Hyderabad. The seminar is organized with an objective to examine the regulatory frameworks of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under the Act in the Cyber space. The seminar will also be a stage for the research scholars, corporate bodies, administrators and the NGOs to address the essential strategies to balance the needs of the IT sector considering the necessities of the society.

Moreover, at the end of the seminar, suggestions can be looked into for the effective implementation of the provisions of the IT Act and rules. Since the act is very technical, it needs high explanation from the experts from the IT field. The seminar also emphasizes on the practical application of the legislation, rather than academic purpose. The international issues, question of jurisdiction, freedom of expression, aspect of defamation, IPR and electronic taxation will be discussed in detail. These contemporary issues will be related with the recent case laws and other related laws. After the amendment, there were drastic changes in the Indian Penal Code, Indian Evidence Act, Indian Contract Act, Intellectual Property Laws, Banking Laws etc which will be brought under discussion with experts. The sub themes of the seminar includes the following:

  • Cyber security and laws of India and other countries
  • Legal regime of Online Transactions
  • Role of Media vis-a-vis Consumer’s Rights
  • Legal protections to Consumers in Online Business Transactions
  • IT, Act 2000 and Online Transactions
  • Investigation of cyber crimes- issues and concerns
  • Evidentiary issues in the area of cyber security
  • E-Governance and cyber security concerns
  • Human Rights and cyber space use and misuse
  • Judicial Response to cyber security
  • Cyber crimes

The participants can choose any of the related topics for presentation. The organizing committee invites papers from academicians, research scholars, students and other interested persons to be presented in the seminar. The abstracts shall not be more than 250 words and shall be send before April 10, 2016. The abstract shall be send along with keywords and a covering letter consisting of Title of the Paper, Name of the Author, Address, Contact Number and E-mail Address. The acceptance of abstract will be intimated to the participants by April 12, 2016. The full paper shall not be more than 6000 words and shall reach the committee before April 20, 2016. The abstract and full paper shall be send to uclouit16@gmail.com. The registration fee for Academicians, Teachers and Law Professionals shall be Rs 1500 and the Research Scholars and Students shall be Rs 1000. The registration fee shall be paid in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour “Head, Department of Law, Osmania University”, Hyd. TS from any nationalized bank.
