RGNUL organizes National Book Review Writing and Case Comment Competition 2016 – Last date for Submission 18th April, 2016

The Literary & Debating Committee under the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab has decided to conduct National Book Review Writing and Case Comment Competition 2016. This is the first competition on book review and case comment organized by the Literary and Debating Committee (LDC), RGNUL, Punjab. This event aims to analyse the skills of the students in reviewing a book and examining case laws. Though there are many facets for the books and cases, the committee will consider only legal aspects for this competition. The students pursuing B A LLB or LL M or Ph D or even any Bachelors or Master’s degree in other universities can participate in the competition.

Following are the books open to review:

From the stated books and cases, the participants have to select one book and one case comment. They can send book review and case comment simultaneously. Both the entries have to be in English. One author can send only one review and one case comment. For the purposes of the competition, entries as co-authors or single author will be deemed to be multiple submissions and therefore such entries will be summarily rejected. But the committee permits co-authorship subject to a maximum of two. If there is a co-author, the participants have to register separately. The reviews and comments have to be original work. It should not be a published work or about to be published. The entries should not contain any identification marks or signs. The reviews and comments along with the registration forms shall be send both a hard copy and soft copy. The book review shall not exceed 1000 words and the authors shall limit the case comment to 1000-2000 words both excluding footnotes. For each entry the participants have to pay Rs 500 as registration fee. Where there is a co-author, the registration fee shall be Rs 800.

The registration fee shall be send by Demand Draft in favor of ‘Registrar, RGNUL, Punjab’ payable at Patiala. The last date for getting the DD shall be April 25, 2016 along with the hard copies of the entries and registration form. The book review and case comment are to be send to ldc.rgnul2016@gmail.com along with othert attachments. The covering letters= should contain the participant’s name, address for communication, Email ID, Phone number and name of the institution. Identity card of the students shall also be attached. The organizers offer a cash prize of Rs 3000, Rs 2500 and Rs. 1500 for the first, second and third prizes respectively. The list of winners will be published in www.rgnul.ac.in and each winner will be informed through email. Participants will also be eligible for certificate of participation. The top 15 book reviews and case comments will be eligible for publication in the book with ISBN number. The authors will also get complimentary copy of the books if their entries are published.
