Andhra University or Andhra Viswa Kala Parishath, Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Viswa Kala Parishath is one of the oldest Universities in India situated at Vishakhapatnam. The University was constituted in 1926 dividing its responsibilities in affiliation with University of Madras in the initial times. The University had achieved ‘A’ grade certification from NAAC and is the first University in India to acquire ISO 9001: 2000 Certification. The University mainly consists of two blocks- south campus as well as north campus. The south campus includes administrative section and the Science, Arts and Humanities departments. The north block which was constituted in 1962 consists of the engineering college. Mainly four colleges function under the University.

The College of Arts and Commerce consisting of 28 departments is the biggest college under the University that offers approximately 55 courses. The College of Science and Technology offers 44 courses in its 19 departments. Almost 16 departments are included in the College of Engineering that conducts undergraduate and post graduate studies. The University Grants Commission had recognized the College of Law as the advanced centre. The School of distance education working under the University established in 1972 has 32 study centers in the state and a study centre functioning in New Delhi.  The University provides hostel facility for both men and women and gives accommodation for its staff in the university campus.

The college of law is well settled with eminent teaching faculty and excellent students. For this reason, the college has been ranked as the leading institution in India. The former students of this college include the judges of Andhra Pradesh High Court, subordinate judges etc. The college is venturing new methods to improve the legal education and research in law. The college is added with good library, lecture halls and conference hall. Practical training is also provided to students under the supervision of prominent teaching staff. The long standing repute has also contributed to the development of the college according to the needs of the society. The college offers LLB (3 year and 5 year) course along with two years post graduation in Law or LLM. It also gives the students opportunity to undergo PhD either on full time or part time basis.
