Tokyo: A bid for block two nuclear reactors’ restart was rejected by the Japanese Court and thus the push of Government of Japan to return to nuclear power won a boost today.
The challenge of local residents desiring halt of refiring of the Reactors No. 1 and No. 2 at the Sendai Nuclear Plant, was rejected by the Japanese District Court located at Southern Kagoshima prefecture. It is further ordered that, they could again come back by online procedure this summer as soon as possible.
The said decision was arrived at, after the different Court in Fukui in the Central Japan, ruled in favour of Citizens’ Group and required temporarily halting the restarting of Reactors no. 3 and No.4 located at the Takahama Nuclear Plant. It was made clear in that decision that unless and until there will be a successful appeal by the operators will ruled out the injunction, the concerned reactors will not resume operation.
Notably, Mr. Yoshihide Suga, Spokeperson from the side of Government refused to comment on the decision of the rejection made by Japanese District Court located at Southern Kagoshima prefecture, as aforesaid. However, Mr. Yoshihide Suga stated that the Government will remain stood behind its earlier decision wherein, the Nuclear Regulation Authority had shown green flag to the restarting of all concerned four Reactors being No. 1 to No. 4 as they met new standards together.
Showing Governments support, Mr. Yoshihide Suga, said to the reporters, that the Government is respecting the Nuclear Regulation Authority’s decision wherein it had resumed the plants as they meet with the safety Standards first over any other factor, as considered by it.
The Court put a question citing earthquake risk, as to whether the safety rules were strong enough, in a move hailed by anti-nuclear activists.
The said decision was commented as ‘appropriate’ by the Kyushu Electric Power being operator of the Sendai Nuclear Plant, because the Court had accepted in its decision the opinion of company as to safety of reactor was assured.
The whole stable of Nuclear Reactors of Japan was gradually switched off following the Fukushima disaster, due to which around 10,000s of people were forced from their homes and many more are still displaced.
