LEX ACADEMIA National Law Fest 2016 at Kerala Law Academy Law College to be held on 3-5 March, 2016

The Kerala Law Academy Law College and Centre for Advanced Legal Studies and Research (CALSAR) jointly organizes National Law Fest to be from 3rd to 5th of March, 2016 at the Kerala Law Academy Law College Campus, Trivandrum, Kerala. The main purpose of the fest is to provide a platform for the students to express their skills and also to enhance their knowledge on the current legal issues. The institute has also announced cash prize of Rs.25000 in total to the winners. The competitions will be:

  •  ‘Lex Academia’ Guest Lecture
  •  National Seminar on Nuclear Power and Its Regulation
  •  Mastermind (Law Quiz – Team Event)
  •  Articulate (Oratorical Competition – Individual Event)
  •  The Big Fight (Debating Competition – Team Event)
  •  Wordsworth (Essay Competition – Individual Event)
  •  J.A.M. (Just A Minute – Individual Event)

The registration fee for the entire programmes will be Rs 3000 and the for each programme Rs 500 is being charged from each participant. The registration is Rs 1000 for National Seminar and Guest Lecture alone.

 National Seminar on Nuclear Power and Its Regulation will be based on the following themes:

  •   India’s Nuclear Energy Program: Evolution, Technology Program, Present Status
  •   Introduction to International Nuclear Law, International Conventions
  •   IAEA-its Role and Functions, Safeguards
  •   The US-India Agreement, India Specific IAEA Safeguards Agreement
  •   Environment Aspects of Nuclear Power
  •   Radio Active Waste Management
  •   Human Rights Issues on Nuclear Power
  •   Radiation Protection: Basic Understanding, Philosophy, Indian and International System of Radiaition Protection Standards
  •   Nuclear Safety Concepts
  •   Nuclear Regulatory Process in Different Countries: Licensing Process, Public Consultation etc
  •   Nuclear Regulatory and Liability Regime in India, The Civil Liability for Nuclear Damages Act, 2000
  •   AERB Safety, Consent and Licensing Codes, NSRA Bill, 2011
  •  Comparative Regulatory Regimes from the OECD: Best Practices in Regulation, Consent Process, Public Consultation and Involvement.

The date for registration has been extended till 26th February, 2016 for the National Law Fest. The registration form shall be send to lex.academia.kla@gmail.com. The hard copy of the DD shall be send along with the registration form.
