Kolkata- based, The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences in its abbreviation form WBNUJS or NUJS is an autonomous law university in India, which is offering courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the studies of Law. Moreover, this University is also considered one of the Best amongst the elite national law schools in India. And this University is build on the five- year law degree model which is proposed and implemented by the Bar Council of India. Thus, this University is offering both regular and honours Law degree programmes for the undergraduate students. Moreover, it is also notable again that the students seeking admission to the University for under- graduate and post- graduate level studies, need to first go through the Common Law Admission Test- CLAT which is the nationwide common entrance examinations, being held since from the years back from 2008. Moreover, this University is also offering the studies of MPhil, PhD and diploma courses too. Thus, the University was established as per the provisions of the WBNUJS Act of 1999 which was passed by the State Legislature of West Bengal. Also, this University was notified under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956 in the year 2004. Moreover, it has been granted permanent affiliation by the Bar Council of India in the year 2005.
