Jat Agitation for Quota: One killed; Haryana Government plans Bill for Backward Classes quota to Jats

Jat Agitation in Haryana has been raising with the time and the Government in Haryana sought the assistance from army for quelling the agitation, which has reached to the many districts.

Looking to this Jat agitation, the Government has announced to bring the special bill which will be offering the quota reservation under the Backward Classes- BC category for Jat and four other communities. This decision was announced on today, i.e. Friday, 19th February, this year.

Moreover, such proposed bill is announced to be introduced in the upcoming budget session of Vidhan Sabha. However, as seen in the today’s agitation, one from the protesters, was killed in firing by the security forces in Rohatak. Thus, the proposal was refused by the protesters.

Also, the Chief Minister for the State- Manohar Lal Khattar while communicating with the media personnel stated that the concerned proposed bill would be framed after consultation with the leaders from Jat community and also it will be taken to the Political parties too.

The statements were put forwarded by the CM- Khattar in the meeting convened at the short notice for discussing the issue. This meeting was held after the emergency state cabinet meeting’s decision was held by Khattar on yesterday i.e. on Thursday, 18th day of February, this year.

In the agitation by the Jat, it can be seen that the roads and rail tracks have been blocked from the five days back and also it is seen that the agitation has spread over about Twenty- One district of Haryana. Moreover, due to this protest, the lakhs of people are facing inconvenience and such people are generally including the office personnel, students, etc. The CM- Khattar has also stated categorically that the BJP MP for Kurukshetra- Raj Kumar Saini’s made remarks against the Jats will also be considered as having been withdrawn.

Replying the question asked to Khattar that what would be the step of the Government of the State, if the stir would be continued, he said he will give top priority to the law and order in any case.
