Two Day National Seminar on Safeguarding Human Rights: Challenges and Prospects organized by Tumkur University, University College of Arts on 4th – 5th March, 2016

The Tumkur University, University College of Arts organizes UGC Sponsored Two Day National Seminar on Safeguarding Human Rights: Challenges and Prospects on March 4-5, 2016 at Sir M. Visvesvaraya Auditorium, Tumkur University, University College of Arts which is the constituent college of Tumkur University.  This college is famous in providing quality education and was elevated as a Government College in 1948. This seminar is conducted under the auspices of ‘Human Rights and Values in Education’ scheme provided by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi.

The UGC had formulated a blueprint to advance the Human Rights teaching and research at different levels of learning in India. In this blueprint there was proposals to remodel the prevailing syllabus and to introduce different courses related with human rights. This seminar is being organized keeping in mind the importance of human rights and the challenges faced by such rights and the violation of human rights across the world. The seminar endeavors to provide a basis for discussions with an aim to promote human rights values in daily life and to impart awareness regarding the need to respect human rights. The main themes of the seminar are as under:

  • Rights of Women
  • Rights of Children
  • Rights of Oppressed Classes and Other Marginalized Sections
  • Health, Education & Human Rights
  • Media and Human Rights
  • Development V/s Human Rights
  • Human Rights Education

The committee invites students, research scholars, academicians, representatives from NGOs and media to participate in the seminar. The main highlight of the seminar will be to impart knowledge to the students, teachers etc. There will be lectures by resource persons and interactive sessions with other delegates. The participation is free for students. The researchers and academicians shall pay Rs 200 as registration fee. Fee shall be paid in the form of DD drawn in favour of Principal, University College of Arts, Tumkur.

Registration fee shall reach the Secretary before February 29, 2016.
