Mumbai: On Thursday, i.e. on 4th day of March, 2016, the High Court of Bombay stated that by disobeying the orders of the court, where the illegal hoardings are banners in the state were prohibited, the Political parties are making a ‘mockery of judiciary’.
The Bombay High Court’s division bench comprising of Justice- A. S. Oka and Justice Shalini Phansalkar- Joshi stated that ‘nobody is abiding by the orders’ and also around 90 per cent of the Political parties are not paying heed to the orders, where from the year back judiciary is asking them not to put up the illegal banners and posters. Further, the bench said ‘they are making mockery of us’.
It was seen in the hearing of the bunch of PIL- Public Interest Litigations, where the question of illegal banners, hoardings and posters which are being put up by the Political parties across the State of Maharashtra, was raised.
The Bench in its strict observation further stated that there should be strong action, ‘only then this will stop’. Moreover, the court further stated that there should be issued a contempt notice, in the movement when there will be found any breach of orders of the court. The Advocate appearing for the Petitioner brought to the notice of the court that on 27th day of February, there were several posters put up by the Political Parties for celebrating the ‘Marathi Bhasha Diwas’.
Also, the Advocate appearing for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation- BMC- Anil Sakhre further informed the court that the Municipal officers who, on one occasion in suburban Deonar, gone for removing illegal hoardings, that time they were beaten by members of the Political party which had put up such illegal banners.
Moreover, the High Court had earlier directly two policemen to escort the Municipal team while they are removing the such banners, however, in reality no such protection was accorded, as said by Anil Sakhre. As such, the High Court’s concerned bench has now ordered the Deonar Police station in- charge and the probing officer to remain present in the court by tomorrow.
Moreover, High Court also told the Advocate- Vishwajeet Sawant representing Political Party- Shiv Sena, that if the Municipal officers need protection, then what will be the plight of a common man?
