National Seminar on Science of Surrogacy and Prospect of Proposed Law in India organized by ISIL and ICSSR Sponsored on 19th-20th March, 2016 – Last date of Submission 15th March, 2016

The Indian Society of International Law, New Delhi and Faculty of Law, Meerut College, Meerut C.C.S. University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh jointly organizes National Seminar on Science of Surrogacy and Prospect of Proposed Law in India under the sponsorship of Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi on March 19 to 20, 2016 at Seminar Hall, Indian Society of International Law, New Delhi. The seminar is conducted considering the legal complexities of surrogacy and the absence of a legislation with regard to surrogacy in India.
In the recent times, a fifteen member committee consisting of experts from ICMR, Ministry of Health and other specialists had prepared a draft and the bill is almost ready to be passed by both houses of parliament. But some of the provisions of the bill needs reconsideration. Hence there is an urgent need to discuss these issues in the light of changing situations. The present seminar is organized with an object to interact regarding the medical, social, economic and ethical issues related with surrogacy and the efficiency of the drafted bill. The following are the sub themes of the seminar:

  • Surrogacy in India: Issues and Challenges
  • Medical Aspects of Surrogacy Arrangement
  • Social, Economic and Ethical Concerns
  • Efficacy and Efficiency of Proposed Law-ART Bill-2013 of India

The Registration fee for the seminar is Rs 500. The participants can present papers either in Hindi or English. The papers are to be submitted before the committee as hard copy and soft copy. The paper should not be more than ten typed pages in the format prescribed by the committee. The format and other details are provided in the website of ISIL. The selected papers will be published in the form of a book. The seminar will be conducted at the seminar hall of ISIL, New Delhi. The organizers have requested the delegates to bring required winter clothing since it is cold at night.
