GNLU Organizes Centre for Intellectual Property Rights Essay Competition, 2016 – Last date for the Submission, 15th May, 2016

The Gujarat National Law University Centre for Intellectual Property Rights had decided to conduct an essay competition, 2016. The GNLU Centre for Intellectual Property Rights was constituted in last January 2016 for the purpose of imparting research and training related with intellectual property laws in India. The Intellectual Property laws and the other laws related with the subject are progressing in India. The importance of IPR and extension is to be understood deeply. The IP field now has relation with industries, trade and commerce, pharmaceutical industry etc. Often it deals with small innovators as well. In order to promote innovation and also to give opportunities for academic research on in the intellectual property laws.

Moreover, there is need for advancing different training facilities and extension activities to spread awareness on Intellectual Property rights. To achieve this objective GNLU has constituted Centre for Intellectual Property Rights. This essay competition is with an intent to promote legal scholarship and academic research facilities in Intellectual Property Rights to assist students. The themes of the essay competition is mentioned below:

  • Space Technology and IPR: Challenges, Issues and Remedies
  • Commercialization of Nanotechnology and Its Related IPR Issues and Remedies
  • Protection of Traditional Knowledge and IPR: Does India Need A Sui Generis Legislation?
  • Digital Libraries And Art Galleries and Its Relationship with IPR: Issues, Challenges and Alternatives and Solutions

The interested participants can choose any one from these themes for essay competition. The submissions should reach the organizers within 15th May, 2016 by 11.59 P.M. The name of the winners will be intimated by email gcipr@gnlu.ac.in. The graduate or post graduate students can participate in the competition. One author can submit only one entry. Co-authorship is permitted to a maximum of two authors. The essays should be original and unpublished. The author’s name, designation, name of the institution, address and contact details should be attached separately with the writing. Author’s name should not be stated within the essay. The essays shall not be more than 2000-3000 words excluding footnotes. The citation shall strictly adhere to Harvard Bluebook, 19th Edition. The essays should be send to gcipr@gnlu.ac.in stating ‘GNLU Essay Competition on Intellectual Property Rights, 2016’ as the subject. The 1st prize winners will get Rs 20000 along with the certificate. The 2nd and 3rd prize winners will get Rs 15000 and Rs 10000 respectively. The best 10 essays will be awarded with Certificates of participation.
