Sheena Bora Murder Case: Indrani Mukerjee’s plea for bail is denied by Court

Mumbai: Today, on 1st April, the Mumbai’s local court preferred to reject the application moved by the accused- Indrani Mukerjee for bail, in connection with the Sheena Bora Murder Case. However, court granted part relief in her favour allowing her private medication and treatment if needed.

It was seen that in connection with her accusation, Indrani Mukerjee found moving an application on Fifth day of February, where she pleaded the ground that she needs to recover from her deteriorating health condition for facing the trial.

As per the contents in the Bail Plea, the petition- accused found pleading that it was “essential in the interest of Justice” after considering the “deteriorating medical condition”, that the applicant (Indrani Mukerjee) must be given bail and also be “allowed proper medical care and confortable environment for the recovery”, so that the accused would be “efficaciously prepare” for trial.

It was seen that the said application for the bail was filed under the provisions (Section 437) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973. Moreover, the counsel representing the accused in her bail plea was also placed reliance heavily on the medical reports came out from the J J Hospital. However, her application was firmly opposed by the Central Bureau of Investigation- CBI on the ground that she is on the path to recovery, as stated by the team of doctors who examined accused- Indrani Mukerjee. Moreover, CBI sought in its contention to say that accused is receiving all the required treatment in the Jail.

It was clarified by the counsel for the CBI that the accused- Mukerjee was examined by the Twelve different doctors. And also counsel further said that accused, whenever claiming any health issue, she was taken to the doctors and her reports are coming “fine”. Notably, Indrani Mukerjee was arrested in connection with the murder of her daughter- Sheena Bora and also Indrani was also former media tycoon in India. In the Court taking her plea, lawyer- Mahesh Jethmalani found appearing and preferred statements on her behalf. However, she is to remain in jail, for further more time, as has been decided by the court, even though she would be provided with the proper medication.
