Moreover, considering the seriousness of the case, the prosecution claims for the award of capital punishment or life imprisonment for the convicts who were charged with the murder. Advocate S.M. Vora appearing on behalf of the victims demanded for exemplary punishment to the 24 accused persons who were convicted by the same court.

It was seen earlier on 2nd day of June that this Special Court headed by the Judge- P. B. Desai had held the said twenty- four accused persons guilty, out of total 66 accused persons, which including a VHP leader. the said massacre resulted in the killing of 69 people including the former congress leader- Eshan Jafri.

It is also notable that the five accused persons died already before the decision of conviction came out. However, though the special court convicted accused persons for murder and for other lesser offences, it was also found that the court held there was no evidence of criminal conspiracy in the case.
