Udta Punjab

New Delhi: After High court’s positive remarks supporting movie- Udta Punjab, now a Punjab- based Non- Governmental Organisation- Human Right Awareness Association has approached the Supreme Court with the allegation that the said movie showing the State in poor light. Moreover, it is clearly apparent here that the said allegations must also be including the challenge to the High court of Bombay’s decision, by which that court had cleared movie with a single cut.

It is also notable here that in the year 2015, the SPYM- Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses along with National Drugs Dependence Treatment Centre of AIIMS conducted survey which resulted in the shocking reports as 2.3 lakh of the people in the state were found using drugs. Though the report was really important, but its full contents were never made public, as shown reportedly.

Notable again, the movie Udta Punjab is reportedly based on the social issue, i.e. the issue of drugs and basically it is involving the state of Punjab. The issue that the name of Punjab as being used in the movie claimed to be misused by the filmmakers, and also its major contents were earlier decided by the Film board to be cut from the movie.
