One Day National Conference on Indian Society and Emerging Social Issues by RGNLU on 23rd April, 2016 – Last date of Submission 31st March, 2016

The Department of Sociology under the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab in corroboration with Indian Council for Social Science Research, New Delhi has decided  to conduct One Day National Conference on Indian Society and Emerging Social Issues on April 23, 2016. The fundamental aim of the this national conference is to spread knowledge regarding the existing social issues in India. The delegates of the conference will be Academicians, Researchers, Administrators, Adjudicators and the Students. There will be discussions and interactive sessions that will help to resolve the prevailing social problems in the society.

The conference will deal with issues like rights of transgender, sexuality, homosexuality, cyber crime and cyber terrorism. Other issues under discussion would be abuse of social media and technology, various environmental issues etc. The major issues like Family and Marriage, honour killing, new legislations, drug abuse etc will also be discussed. The conference aims to provide platform to academicians, practitioners, NGOs etc to express their views on various social problems. The selected papers will be published in RGNUL Journal of Social Sciences, which is a bi-annual publication. Other papers will be published in a book with ISBN Number. The following are the sub themes of the seminar:

  • Cyber crime and social security and Redefining security
  • Sanctity of social institutions in contemporary India: Family and Marriage
  • Gender and Indian society: Perspectives and Challenges
  • Environmental degradation and issues related to Sustainability
  • Recent Legislations and Law related to Emerging Social Issues
  • Drug Abuse: Facts, repercussions and policy making
  • Digital Divide: Rural-urban dichotomy; inter-regional issues, class issues
  • Stress and Youth, gender, minorities and the allied issues
  • Sexuality; Homosexuality; Sexual minority and allied issues

The participants may also choose any other important issue related with the theme. The abstract and the full paper should be send to nis16@rgnul.ac.in and honeymalik111@gmail.com. The abstract shall be limited to 300-500 words and the full paper shall not exceed 3000-5000 words. The format for submission of full paper are provided in the website. Along with the abstract and full paper the authors have to send full names, address for correspondence, e-mail ID, and contact numbers. The hard copy of the full paper should be submitted at the time of registration on 23 April 2016. On prior intimation, the conference will have a web conference as well. The registration fee for students are Rs 500 and for delegates Rs 800. Those who wish to have web conference have to pay Rs 600. The accommodation charges along with the registration fee have to be paid online.
